I woke up this morning and read today’s prompt: December 6 – Make. What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it? (Author: Gretchen Rubin)
…
I am not a maker.
I am not crafty. Nor can I draw. I cook sometimes but nothing extraordinary.
I thought about it all day. I studied. I applied for jobs. I looked around my apartment for things I’ve made.
Besides a mess?
Nada.
Except for plans.
And mistakes.
I am not a maker but I admire those who are.
I do take pictures but I don’t think I can say I made any of my photography.
Bring on Day 7 Reverb10.
yeah, it took me awhile to come up with something for today’s prompt. i mean, it’s good to challenge myself in my writing. i know that. but… meh.
I like the challenge. Just not when I feel like I can’t contribute anything. <3
Your photographs are beautiful! That is most definitely creating something.
My post? I created a Facebook page for my blog since it’s been over two years and I just hate self-promotion and I also made spanakopita for my friends yesterday evening. I mean, not too exciting. Nothing too crafty, but I still used my hands. I used my creativity (that is to each their own) to start something.
I also think we mistake “making” with being an artsy type. Making can even be writing a Christmas card or a letter, making someone smile or even writing as your form (you have a blog and do so much of that).
Not nada 🙂 I think you’ve got lots xo
Aww, thank you!!
Yes, I agree. Thanks for helping me get out of my own head 🙂
You made me smile!
Don’t sell yourself short. I agree with Grace that “making” doesn’t have to be art focused. If you made someone smile today, you made something. 🙂
I do try to make as many people smile as I can in a day. Thank you 🙂
oh yes, you made me smile and that counts double. triple, even.
I’m glad!
I agree with the others, making stuff doesn’t have to be crafty.
I see that now 🙂 Thanks!
Interesting post! I still haven’t written my for today yet. I kind of had similar thoughts to you. Other than the occasional food prep, I don’t feel like I make much of anything. I do write occasionally…
I may have to take the prompt literally. In that case, I will probably end up writing about food!
Then go for it!
I enjoyed this! I have not written my yet, I had to drop the critic that took over about not being creative! 🙂
Sometimes you just have to silence the critic!
The only thing I made last night was a plan to complete my finals, though, I suppose that’s more productive than creative.
I didn’t even make that. I fail.
I would definitely considering photography “making.” I mean, you’re using a tool and skills to make a photograph. I always considered my art to be my writing because I’m so not artistic! I haven’t progressed my artistic skill since I was about 8.
I guess so! Thank you 🙂
