Let’s Get Physical [Giveaway Alert!]

Let’s talk about how much I hate going to the gym because I look like a fool. When I work out, I like doing it in the comfort of my own apartment, which is why work-out DVDs are my favorite.

And then XBox went ahead and brought me the Kinect, which meant I could work out AND play games? Winner winner chicken dinner!

So when I had the opportunity to review Your Shape Fitness Evolved [Courtesy of Clever Girls Collective & Ubisoft], I jumped on it. (Get it? I was all physical)

For a brief moment at the beginning of the set-up, I was discouraged because it is just like working out in front of a mirror.  The beauty of this, I found, is that when you are doing a workout for the first time, it’ll tell you if you’re doing it correctly.

Take Yoga for example. (Oh yes, there’s Yoga). I would never go do Yoga in public because I know that I’m not 100% accurate with my movements. I would end up hurting myself, which would defeat the purpose of Yoga.  What Your Shape does, with the help of the amazing Kinect technology, is show you exactly how your body is not positioned properly.  During Yoga, there is literally an X-Ray of your body where you can see that you are not bending your limbs in the right way.

This also means you are not getting the completion rate for the exercise.  It helps you get familiar with your body, down to your limbs, and teaches you how to move them so you get the full benefit of whichever workout you choose.     sex is my favorite exercise…but I have been doing that one even less than all the others.

    ok, for reals….I like lifting weights…I like the physicality of straining to push this or that weight and feeling the burn of the soreness after a hard workout.

    you don’t have to enter me…just wanted to respond.

      I like the soreness too but I’m not quite there with the weights yet. Maybe if I keep it up and exercise regularly…lol.

    Does lifting a chip covered in dip from the bowl to my mouth count as exercise?

      For me? Today? That’s totally my exercise.

    annnd my favorite exercise is anything aerobic. i love workout routines that combine fun music with various movies to get my heart rate up and my fat count down 🙂

    can i be entered in both drawings? i love whole foods, and J just bought a kinect. if i have to choose just one, i’d prefer whole foods. $25 would cover half my weekly shopping trip lol

    My favorite exercise right now is running. Burns tons of calories and I am not struggling to finish runs right now. 🙂

    Sadly, I don’t have the Xbox Kinect…I have the Wii. So I hope that I win the gift card!

    I have 2 favorite workouts. 1 – cardio (specifically the stairclimber) 2- abs. with a 10 lb round weight … I do leg lifts, obliques … and I can feel the shit out of it too.

    Also, walking my dogs. I am very anti-exercise but I love taking my dogs for a walk. Gives me a chance to clear my head, bond with them, and they love it. Winner, winner chicken dinner!

    Last week I did a weight lifting/toning exercise called Spartacus. It killed me, but I loved it (more so in retrospect). And now that I’m no longer sore, I suppose it’s time to do it again…

    I’m in love with Pilates. Always have been, always will. My body just intuitively gets it. With any other type of exercise, I’m all arms and legs flying all over the place.
