The reason I told you guys the couch story was to explain how my apartment didn’t really start to feel like home until I had slept in my bed. Even after that, there were boxes everywhere, and I needed furniture, and things for my kitchen. I didn’t hang things up on my walls so it felt like I was just visiting. This place didn’t belong to me. It felt like I could just take my laptop, get in my car and go.
One of the (silly) things I was worried about before moving was that I couldn’t hack it as an adult. I mean, finding my style and decorating and the colors and matching and HOLY PINTEREST, WHAT was I going to do?
You guys know that I’m neurotic and worry too much, right? I mean, if you’ve known me for longer than 3 minutes, you know this fact.
I lucked into the furniture I have. I was randomly browsing CL and found an ad with all the things I needed – couch, bed, TV, coffee table, dressers, a floor lamp, bookshelf…sold. I just needed to fill in the blanks, right?
Right.
I’m a simple girl, guys. Give me black and white everything (that goes for clothes too) and some accents and I’m good. But I decided I would venture out a little. (Cue panic attack).
(Oh, for those of you who’ve asked for my housewarming wish list, thank you. If you did want to get me a housewarming present, a Target GC would be a lot better because I am so friggin random that I’ve already changed my mind about half of the items on my list.)
For my bedroom, I decided go to with yellow & grey. Something about that combination speaks to me, and I usually hate yellow anything. I know, my bed looks so awesome.

I’ve also found that I love posters with sayings and I don’t mind my apartment being covered with inspirational stuff. Look, I’m weird, alright? But it works for me. So for my bedroom, I put this above the bookshelf on the wall opposite my bed, so it’s the first thing I see when I wake up every morning.
Of course I can’t mention the bedroom without talking about this hanging on the door
And of course the walk-in closet. Because I can ACTUALLY SEE MY CLOTHES NOW. For those of you not in the know, I haven’t had a proper closet for 4 years now and this was the best thing to ever happen to me.
Oh and there’s one more bookshelf, and a whole ‘nother box of books that need a home.
As you come out of the bedroom, if you turn to your right, you have my craft corner, which is currently the messiest part of the apartment.
Moving on, you will see the kitchen (with my coffee corner) and if you look up, one of my favorite thrift store finds (which is just perfect). Naturally, I’ve already added more mugs to my collection.
My office corner
And some more random things on the walls that make it feel more like home and more like me.
It’s a work in progress but it’s my work in progress. And every day, I’m falling in love with it more and more.
You wear a lot of black! 😛
I really do. I’m trying to venture out though! There is some purple and pink in there. (OK, ONE pink sweater but it’s a start)
Looks great, girlie!! 🙂
Thanks 🙂
hurray to your new place, it’s so cute!
This is so cute! Having one color of clothing makes it easier to get dressed in the morning anyway.
