Friday Treat: A Poem from the Reject Pile

So, this is one of the poems I wrote years ago that didn’t make it to the final draft of my book (Surprise surprise), but it makes me laugh and I had promised some people I would share it. Needless to say, this was written during a drama-filled time in my life.

But hey, we’ve all been there, right?

Now I can look back and laugh about it.

Etch-A-Sketch Bitch

Imitate me, please!
Oh how I love it
While the original stands here
You try to keep up sans true wit.

No really…keep it going.
It must suck to not be real
So you latch on by hating
Pretending the fake smiles are genuine.

It’s pathetic at best
How transparent you are
Stumbling your way through life
By imitating the next best woman.

Etch-A-Sketch bitch
One shake and you’re gone.
I’m a masterpiece, a true original
To be admired for years to come.
