I read.

Last night, as I was eating dinner, I figured I’d read a few pages of the book I am currently reading and then get to work.

But the next thing I knew, I was on the couch, engrossed in the book and I was ready to turn the last page.

I haven’t read like that in months. Maybe a year.

It was incredible. And peaceful. And super relaxing.

By 6:30 PM last night, I had already eaten a light lunch, watched an episode of SVU and worked out.

I love my new schedule. I’m home by 3:45 (4:45ish if I walk home) and I have time to relax, write and still get to bed at a reasonable hour.

This is just one step closer to my goal of being a full-time freelancer.

Baby steps.

If you had an extra 90 minutes in the day, what would you do with it?

What was the last book you read in one sitting?

Last book you read that you’d recommend?

I’ve been meaning to read “Will Grayson, Will Grayson” co-written by two NYT best sellers, John Green & David Levithan. I’ve just been extremely busy this past week and now the lack of sleep is catching up to me. Once time frees up, I will definitely read it.

      Awesomesauce.

  • moooooog35 April 13, 2010, 10:10 am

With an extra 90 minutes I’d watch more porn. Because even when I’m done I’ve got, like, an extra 87 minutes to kill.

    Win-win.

I already do that. That’s the only way I can fall asleep.

3 minutes? I got you beat. 2 mins 24 seconds.

Oh, I love reading. So, so, so much. I’m doing my 52 Books in 52 Weeks challenge, and I’m plowing right along.

Most recent books that I’d recommend: if you like fantasy novels, the entire ‘Wheel of Time’ series by Robert Jordan is fantastic; anything by Julia Alvarez or Francesca Lia Block; โ€˜Foolโ€™ by Christopher Moore is a freaking hysterical retelling of King Lear.

    Happy reading : )

Rock on. I’ll check those out.

I would do 52 Books in 52 Weeks if I wanted to never sleep again ๐Ÿ˜‰

Last book I read from cover to cover? None. I don’t have that kind of time. But I admit that I read the hell out of the Da Vinci Code and didn’t want to put it down.

The last book I read that I would recommend? Hard to say because I’ve been disappointed in a number of the most recent books I’ve read. Anything by Christopher Moore or Terry Pratchett is brilliant and funny; anything Anne Rice used to be perfectly dark and compelling; that said, I’m too often disappointed by some of the other “must reads” I see touted on websites and blogs.

Of course, I have to say I’m totally head-over-heels in love with my book, and since I’m editing right now, I am always reading it. Call me what you will, but call me after you’ve read “Dying Light” and let me know that you cried, too, when you got to the end.

How can you not finish a book? Even if I don’t have time, I always have to read a book cover to cover even if it takes me weeks!

  • Katie April 13, 2010, 11:00 am

Me=bibliophile. Straight up. I spent most of my days in high school reading books. I am obsessed with them.

  • Liebchen April 13, 2010, 11:09 am

If I had 90 extra minutes I would curl up with a book, just like you did. (Assuming I’d already gone for my run.) I haven’t been able to read as much as I used to, and I miss it. In fact, I think the last book I read in one sitting was a romance novel…because I needed something quick, easy, and mindless. It was perfect.

Yeah, I’m glad my coworker had this book or else I would’ve never gotten a book to read.

    P.S.: I emailed you something

An extra 90 minutes? Finish crocheting all those damn baby blankets and scarves I’ve been meaning to sell on Etsy.

The last book I read in one sitting? Go Ask Alice… for the 149,209,303rd time.

The last book I would recommend? Both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. They are the first two parts of a trilogy… the third book (Mockingjay comes out in August!

      I <3 that book.

  • Sara April 13, 2010, 11:59 am

I love getting a book I can’t put down. I always carry a book in my purse (like Rory from Gilmore Girls) because I’m a nerd. And if I really like it, I pull it out constantly (TWSS). If I had an extra 90 minutes a day, I would work out…. HA! Gotcha! I would SAY I was going to work out but never end up getting it done, of course.

Having that much new-found free time… amazing. I would blog, read, workout, nap, cook, call my grandma more often!

Last good book I read was “No One Belongs Here More Than You” by Miranda July and “Raise High the Roof Beams, Carpenters” by JD Salinger. The former is a short story book, so it takes as little or as long as you want it to. Try them!

    • PrincessQ April 14, 2010, 10:26 am

I will have to check those books out!!

  • Wendryn April 13, 2010, 6:36 pm

90 minutes…nap? read? watch Torchwood, which I’m becoming addicted to? take the dog for a run and then take a long, hot shower? Probably read, though. ๐Ÿ™‚

The last book I read was March to the Stars by John Ringo and David Weber. I like a lot of what they write. You might like the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. Terry Pratchett is always hilarious. I like Neil Gaiman, too, especially Good Omens and The Graveyard Book.

I could go on for days…murder mysteries, fiction, nonfiction, anything. I’ve been a voracious reader for as long as I can remember, so if you’re ever short of something to read, tell me!

    1. Sleep
    2. I think the last book I read in one sitting was Anthem by Ayn Rand (it’s rather short, but good)
    3. Looking For Alaska by John Green
