Creepy Old Men, Kindness & Bauer

Can I, once again, tell you how glad I am to get my site back? I will be doing an in depth blog about this but Bluehost owns Yahoo. Actually, they should really own them…and maybe Yahoo won’t suck. Thank you to the customer service reps at BH…especially the one who talked me through a bunch of coding yesterday, very patiently and kindly…It was a true lifesaver.

So, there’s a little bar/restaurant called Bottom Line that is down the street from my job. C was the first one to take me there and it’s a really nice change from Rumors…a lot more quiet and low-key. On days that it’s too cold to be outside and I have to do reading at lunch, I usually just go and sit at the bar, enjoy my lunch (*sometimes* a drink), do my thing and go back to work. It’s been a nice change from Rumors…because the thing is, I went there almost everyday for 2 years. It’s like a family…and even if I say “J, I’m not in the mood to talk”…I can’t help but get sucked in to the conversation because I know everyone there. Nice and quiet is preferred sometimes, which is why I’m now glad to have Bottom Line. So yesterday, in an effort to finish my book for the paper that’s due today *cough*, I went to BL. What’s funny is that the last time I saw C, he made the comment that if he didn’t know me and I was sitting alone at a bar, he’d approach me…so my comment about how no one will bug me there was inaccurate.

I hate when he’s right. -.-

So yesterday, I do my thing, and just as I’m getting ready to leave, I hear “What do you do?” and look up to see the (handsome) guy sitting at the end of the bar looking at me. So I told him and we chatted just for a bit (He’s been to Turkey a lot, works in communications, etc)…exchanged cards (because isn’t that what you do in DC?) and I went back to work. Naturally, the first thing I did was google him. (I mean, naturally). Yeah…I wasn’t surprised to find out that the first man I met by chance in DC has a scandalous past…politically.

*blink*
*cough*

(Sidenote: I got into work to an email from him…I was tempted to try to invite you to a big NGA party tonight, but decided against going and instead stayed in for the evening. *snort* Silly creepy old man…)

Last night, I had to give up on the TV-gasm to write a paper on
The Illusion of Control: Force and Foreign Policy in the 21st Century
. I really did enjoy the book and writing the paper was easy…once I focused.

Until I focused though, I took a Bauer break. But it was RESEARCH! I swear! Come on…Bauer…force…foreign policy…terrorism…All research, I tell ya!

(Speaking of Bauer, didn’t he make the STUPIDEST MOVE last night? He’s lucky that didn’t blow up in his face…My brother and I just looked at each other and went WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?)

*sigh*

I will continue my delayed TV-Gasm tonight…I DVRd House, Heroes, Big Bang and How I Met Your Mother. Yum…

So should I email the dude back? (PS: He doesn’t LOOK old. I just like to call him creepy old man) Are you a magnet for a specific type of person as I seem to be a magnet for creepy old man?
.

I’m old and married, not a magnet for anything unfortunately. I’m glad you are happy with your new blog home.

You aren’t showing up in my reader, am I showing up in yours?

  • perpstu February 24, 2009, 10:02 am

I am married and old as well. However, creepy, super old men seem to flock to me. Ew. I’m glad you finished your paper!

I think that you should only e-mail him if you are interested. Why waste his time and yours if you really don’t want to start any thing?

You are definitely a magnet for older men. I on the other hand somehow seem to attract only 18-24 yr olds. I am NOT a cougar. I don’t go searching for them. They just somehow find me.

I’m also married and old — but still a magnet. And we’ll just leave it at that. For now.

If it makes you feel better, I went all the way through college time #2 (for the English degree) studying with the television on. Constantly. And graduated with a 4.0. The occasional Bauer break is more than acceptable.

There is so much on DVR I have to catch up with. Like 4 weeks, no 5, of Heroes. I just watched 6 weeks of 30 Rock Sunday.

    I would comment… but… I think I am in the COM category… so I probably shouldn’t 😉

Can’t hurt to shoot him an email…. 🙂 You never know what can happen out there.

I totally attract the same type of guy. They are always very talented, very artistic .. and extra sensitive. P.S. I don’t sugar coat anything and they all end up hating me =)
