Movies & Conversations Lost

Today is my 3rd day home and I’m off tomorrow too. I spent the last two days just basically watching movies, TV till I pass out followed by a lot of sleep with a lot of weird dreams. What can I say? I’m trying to avoid thinking by just watching useless stuff. I could try to read but I know how my mind works…it goes into overdrive and then I end up sending stupid emails to people. It’s also been nice just spending time with my dad. We both know I’m leaving soon. It’s almost like he’s trying to spend more time with me too. He is a newly recruited fan of Jeff Dunham though…which I love. Achmed naturally is his favorite. That’s the great thing about me and my dad…We are just so much alike…The hardest thing will be not coming home to him every night…*sigh* But we both know I have to do this.

Of course, it’ll also be nice to not have him ask me when I’m going to give him a grandbaby every time we see a cute baby on the screen… -.-

We watched Eastern Promises last night. Fantastic movie. My dad has movie ADD so one of the comments he made was how it sucked because it’s one of those movies he actually has to pay attention to…Because he likes to watch movies while on his laptop playing poker. The movie itself was fantastic. I thank my friend Nirmal for recommending it to me. Naturally, the fight scene in the bath house where Viggo is completely naked should’ve bothered me watching it with my dad. The great thing is my dad not making a big deal out of it, so it wasn’t awkward. (All I saw was a lot of pube anyway…Must’ve been cold in that bath house…)

Tonight we watched Mirrors. My brother and I are Jack Bauer freaks…and my dad has naturally caught the Bauer fever because he always watches TV with us by default while on his computer. We only have one big screen…As far as Mirrors goes…I get easily freaked out over little things like bread popping out of toasters…so a movie about mirrors freaks me out more than other horror movies. The movie had me on the edge of my seat…of course, my bro and I kept making 24 references so the movie wasn’t all that creepy. There were a couple of good moments of mind fuck…So I do recommend the movie. Just don’t watch it alone if you’re easily creeped out. And given what I just said about my dad’s movie ADD, it should be noted that my dad leave his laptop and give his full attention to the movie all the way to the end.

If there’s any indication about my taste, I don’t get easily grossed out by gore.

I also watched My Best Friend’s Girl…which shouldn’t even get a mention. Oy.

What movies have you watched lately that you recommend or I should stay away from?

Now…on the blogging front. There is something that is on my mind that I have to address now that I am reading more and more blogs around the net. See…I see blogs as a place for discussion. When my readers leave a comment, I reply to them, engaging in conversation. Sometimes…it bothers me just a tad when that interaction isn’t on some of my favorite blogs. I’m not sure if this is because I’ve been blogging on Myspace…or just the way some bloggers are. I know that on Blogspot, there is no plugin to let you reply directly to comments but…I’ve seen some bloggers use the @ to still engage in conversation.

On WordPress hosted blogs, I see VERY few people using the Thread-Comment function. If you’re on the latest version, I’m told it’s integrated. There IS a plug-in…

I use it on my blog and it’s fantastic to create discussion on your blog. I’ve noticed that some people with WP go in and reply to blog comments by adding their reply to the original comment…the problem with that is the original commenter really doesn’t get a notification and other people can’t reply to that comment. Maybe it’s just me but I really do love interaction on my blog…don’t you?

How do bloggers that didn’t start blogging on Myspace feel about it? Don’t you like interacting with your readers or do you just prefer to get your thoughts out and whatever comment is left will be it?

How was your weekend? Are you ready for the week ahead?

Well, first off, I think you should stop by our blog today and play our Movie Meme. Second, I love Viggo and have this movie in our queue so glad to hear a ringing endorsement. And finally, I think it sucks that there isn’t a better way to interact on Blogger – if someone leaves me a comment I always go to their blog and post a reply so I know they will see it. If they are like me, they probably leave lots of comments all around and never remember where to go back to check for replies.

I watched a few older movies this weekend. Stepmom, Bodyguard, and Kate and Leopold.

You know how the rest of it went. Ugh!

I’m not much of a blogger, but I am an avid blog reader and I love it when the blogger interacts with the commenters. In fact if they don’t then I usually don’t follow their blogs for very long.

I need to see more movies, but sadly there is just no time. If you want to venture out to the theater though make sure you see Slumdog Millionaire. EXCELLENT!

I just recently saw Minority Report for the first time. It was pretty good. Also I saw Valkyrie, another Tom Cruise flick. It was pretty decent. As for being accurate it was a lot closer than hollywoods flicks usually are.
