A Page Out of the Book of PQ

It’s a cold and rainy day here in PQ Land. Although I am doing my best not to be cranky, I would certainly love to be under my blanket right now. I did get a good night’s sleep. Yes, I had incredibly weird dreams (Billy Bob Thornton? Really?) but they weren’t disturbing (Though Billy Bob is just disturbing, period). I was thinking this morning about how much I want snow but I want it in that “Start snowing Friday night so I can watch it from my bed under my blanket all night Friday…Saturday and then it can clear up Sunday so I can get to work fine on Monday.”

My dad suggested we go skiing this year because we haven’t in years. If by skiing, he means me sitting at the lake house and watching the pretty snow with my hot chocolate in front of the fireplace, SURE! LET’S GO!

So, before today starts though, let me get to how AMAZING yesterday was…because it’s rare that I have such a good day…and end up so lucky. See, I started this year in a black hole of debt and with plans to move out by June at the latest…see the dilemma? Either way, I had gone to my bank and disputed some fraudulent charges a couple of weeks before Christmas. When I didn’t hear from them, I figured that I lost the dispute and planned to close my account. Friday, my ATM card stopped working so I went to the bank yesterday to see what the problem could be. The teller told me that the bank had sent me a new card on Friday so my current card was inactive. OK then…the dispute had finally settled. So I asked her to give me my balance so I would be sure to that my bills were properly paid. This is how it went:

Teller: *writes down a big number and passes the paper my way*
Me: Uh…I only had *little number* in my account on Friday…Can you tell me what the latest activity was on my account?
Teller: *giving me a ‘bitch are you crazy’ look* Well, the bank refunded you $525 in NSF fees and a few other charges that I assume are the charges you disputed.
Me: 😯 😯 😯
Teller: 😐
Me: Uh…OK…thanks! Can I make a withdrawal please? 😯

So now I have money to pay for my books, a little bit of my tuition and can put money into savings for the Moving Out Fund (M.O.F.) .

You’d think that’s where my good day ended…No sirreebob. Since I had to cover the receptionist’s lunch, I didn’t leave for lunch till 1:30…so I figured I was starving…and Rumors would be quiet. (For the newcomers, I used to go to Rumors almost everyday at my old job…) So I walked into Rumors and Andy is sitting at the bar with a couple of the other (quiet thank god) regulars. Andy is like my big Irish brother…He’s your typical redneck and he knows it but he cracks me up and he has a heart of gold. Anyway. So I had a nice quiet lunch and we’re chatting away. I tell them about my day and how I’m going to put money into my M.O.F., etc. Andy gets up to leave and comes over to give me a hug. And then he puts a $100 bill in my had and says “Put this in the fund and get out as soon as you can.” 😯

My friends are.the.bomb.

Needless to say, I feel like I must have some good karma stocked up because shit like that doesn’t happen everyday. 😎

Have you ever had a change of luck like this?
Do you believe in karma?
Are your friends as awesome and protective like mine?

I have had a FEW good days.

I do believe in Karma….but sometimes have to act as Karma’s agent and just accept the repercussions.

I have – due to apparently equally AWESOME friends.

    Do you believe in karma?

    Absolutely.

Are your friends as awesome and protective like mine?

Awesome, yes. Protective – I’d never really thought of them that way… but I guess one could…

Too Funny! Matches my definition of ‘skiing” exactly! Sitting in the lodge with a fuzzy sweater by a fire and sipping spiked hot cocoa!

I have had days like that. They are rare but powerful. They’re not always money related but they DO indeed rock!

As for my friends, I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to have thrown in with!

    How.Awesome!!! Nothing beats great friends.

Way back when things escalated between my Dad and I my friends bailed me out. At 16 they took me in and let me stay rent free 6 months. I might not have been here now had it not been for them.

Best of luch with the MOF!
